Sweating is a natural phenomenon. It is the body’s way of balancing its thermostat. We all get that.
Athletic bodies dripping in sweat at the gym look undeniably sexy. Underarm sweating through your shirt is undeniably not sexy. And expensive to boot.
So, what are you to do?
You have 3 options:
MiraDry uses soundwaves to permanently destroy sweat glands. The treatment is performed under local anesthesia. Post treatment, you can return to work immediately. Both armpits will be swollen and a little tender for about 1-2 weeks. This is usually not a problem at work for men unless they wear a sleeveless shirt. Results are virtually immediate.
The rest of your body will keep sweating as usual. Men tend to require 2 to 3 sessions for best control.
Added bonus: dramatically decreased underarm odor.

This genius molecule has more than one trick up its sleeve. Micro-injections of Botox throughout your underarm skin will be effective within 24 hours. No down time. Sessions are repeated once or twice a year.

This is a minimally invasive surgery done under local anesthesia. A microcannula in introduced under your skin, turned upside down to scrape the underside of your skin in order to dislodge and aspirate the sweat glands. A ball-shaped compression dressing is kept in place for 12 to 24 hours. Patients go back to work the next day. This is generally a one-time treatment.
If used daily on dry clean unbroken skin, can keep mild hyperhidrosis under control.
We like to avoid using oral glycopyrrolate, except in extreme cases, because of potential serious systemic side effects.
There are several non-invasive procedures that men can use to minimize underarm sweating. MiraDry and Botox offer similar results by reducing underarm sweating by up to 80%. If you’re looking for additional benefits such as odor reduction, you may want to go with MiraDry.
Both procedures may cause minor side effects, such as redness, swelling, and tenderness. These are expected to resolve within several days. People who receive MiraDry may also experience numbness or tingling in the underarm area, which may last up to four weeks.
People with mild hyperhidrosis may find relief from these products. However, more severe cases will usually need to be treated with MiraDry, Botox, or sweat gland scraping.
Some people only need one session of MiraDry but most will benefit from two sessions. Those who opt for Botox to treat hyperhidrosis only need one to two sessions each year.
